Tamarin is a web development studio based in Camden Town, London - we've been designing and building interactive content since 1998.

Tamarin Design's core activities are Flash games and e-learning activities, viral marketing and websites.

Our work

Over the past few years we've built hundreds of Flash projects, these range from simple drag and drop interactivity through to complex server based applications including several award winning projects.

Recently we've delivered a lot of work that requires complex data gathering and user tracking, these have been used in both e-learning projects and key marketing campaigns.

Most of our intranet, extranet and web based projects require content management systems (CMS) for dynamic content and ease of update designed with the greatest flexibility and our clients requirements in mind.

Our client base

Our client base has grown steadily over the past 5 years and as a result we've been involved in a wide and diverse range of projects.

We work with local buisnesses and individuals creating websites, setting up hosting, managing online payment and databases.

We also work with several major advertising agencies, these projects are typically for high profile clients such as Vodafone, The Financial Times, The Telegraph, Talk Talk and Chevrolet.

Our team

Our core team of developers includes specialists in ActionScript, PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS. We also maintain subsidiary skills in relevant and emerging technologies both within our team and the network of freelancers (developers, illustrators, project managers, musicians, animators, editors, copywriters) that we regularly use. This enables us to be flexible in our approach to project development.

'Tamarin' without the 'd'

Our name comes from Tamarin Bay, a wonderful little bay on the tropical island of Mauritius and a great place to surf. When the business was set up back in 1998 by Shariff Moossun it was a name that seemed to fit just right.

Since then the business has gradually grown and matured, we've built a good reputation for delivering quality work, with a keen eye for attention to detail as a result 90% of our new business comes from referals.

Website hosting

We currently offer 3 'off the shelf' hosting packages, these can be configured to run on Linux or Windows NT.

Additional features such as e-commerce facilities, FrontPage extensions, Coldfusion, Secure Certificates and webspace can be added to your hosting package, please call for more information.

Level 1 hosting - £99+vat per year
50mb webspace, 10 POP email accounts, CGI Bin, webStats, webMail, internet access and technical support included.

Level 2 hosting - £149+vat per year
250mb webspace, 100 POP email accounts, CGI Bin, webStats, webMail, internet access, 2 mySQL databases, PHP, and technical support included.

Level 3 hosting - £299+vat per year
750mb webspace, 500 POP email accounts, CGI Bin, webStats, webMail, internet access, 5 mySQL databases, PHP, and technical support included.

In-depth website traffic reports

In addition to the standard website stats we offer with our hosting packages we also provide an in-depth website analysis service.

We can prepare weekly, monthly or one-off reports that provide a detailed analysis off your website's usage. Tracking users' navigation paths through a site, their entry and exit pages, the time spent on each page and geographic locations are just some of the posibilities we can offer.

Design services

We've built up a diverse client base over the past 6 years, individuals, companies and institutions each with their own special requirements and objectives.

During this time we've worked on many types of project, we always approach, develop and deliver each with a keen attention to detail, clear understanding of our clients' (and their clients') needs. Most important we've found that by throughtly testing and getting user feedback during the development process results in a really successful end product.

Websites

We've built all kinds of websites over the years, these have included portfolios, microsites, business websites, online shops & e-commerce facilities, presentations & animations, games & educational activities, admin systems with integrated online databases such as photographic archives.

Cd-roms & presentations

Dvd and cd-roms are particularly well suited when working with video or in situations where web access is limited or non-existent.

Another benifit of this format is the level of control we have over how the content is viewed and experinced by the audience - it's ideal for projection or laptop based presentations.

When working with this format the content is usually fixed but we are able to build cd-roms that can connect to the internet to update when launched.

Print, brand and graphic design

We design and produce stationary, flyers and brochures and develop identities and branding. Please contact Richard Nutter to discuss your requirements.

HTML emails

Weekly and monthly newsletters, long term marketing campaigns and viral emails are popular promotional tools.

We build template HTML emails that typically contain formated copy, images, click-throughs, feeback and/or search forms. We can offer in-house mailling facilities for email groups of 20,000 or less if required.

Interface design and interactivity

A key area of our business is developing functional content for use within websites or as standalone applications. We specialise in Flash development and ActionScript in particular.

We're frequently contracted by advertising and new media agencies to deliver online content - our Flash developers are highly experinced and regularly turn around complex projects in a short timeframe.

We've built many types of interactive content from fast playing arcade games to logical puzzles and environment simulations.

Online applications

We have built several large scale content management systems that integrate mySQL, XML and Php technologies with a Flash front-end. We also build smaller gadets and activities that can be placed within an existing website to perform various tasks such as data collection, processing & manipulation.

The beauty of using Flash as a development platform is the fast build time when compared to other web technologies.

Project proposal

Before starting most projects we'll happly provide you with a detailed project proposal outlining the project brief, an indication of the development timeframe and estimated project costs. It's then up to you to decide if you want Tamarin to go ahead and compete the work for you.

Travel directions

Our studio is located on the first floor of a converted textile factory, the entrance is at the end of a driveway next to the Unicorn pub.

Driving: We've got limited parking in front of the studio but please call us beforehand to check.

Getting a Bus: The 29 and 253 buses run every 10 minutes between Camden Town and Finsbury Park Tube stations.

Walking from the Tube: It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Kentish Town tube station - turn right out of the station and then right again and walk the length of Leighton Road, take another right when you reach the junction with Brecknock Road and follow the parade of shops until you reach the Unicorn pub. Caledonian Road tube station is about 15 minutes walk, turn left out of the station and take the first left into North road, turn right at the end into York Way and head towards the parade of shops, the Unicorn pub is situated beside the second set of traffic lights.
